Sometimes you just gotta brag. We got a Butterfly delivered to the
SOUTH POLE in under 12 days!
On Feb. 3 2006 I got this email from Ethan Dicks, resident of
THE SOUTH POLE:
Joe,
I just placed an order for an AVR Butterfly. Hopefully the APO box isn't a problem - time is running out on our summer - we only have 12 days left in the regular season, with a few days remaining to final station close before we start our winter. If you can get the package into the mail today (3 Feb), hopefully it will arrive before the last plane. If not, I won't see it until October. The good news is that I've ordered stuff from places like Digi-Key and BG Micro and received the orders in as little as 10 days.
Thanks for any assistance in expediting the order.

I checked back on the 15th:

It did make it here, on what was possibly one of the last mail flights of the year (we are still receiving cargo for a few more days, but I haven't seen any mail posted on the manifests).
Thanks for being so prompt about shipping - a delay of a day or two could have been all it took to miss out.
Cheers,

Now this is not just Antarctica, but
THE FREAKING SOUTH POLE!
Take a look at Ethan's web site. He belongs to the 300 degree club. This is an elite group of folks who wait for the outside temp to get to -100 degrees F then sit in a 200 degree F sauna then run out and touch the South Pole.
Is this an amazing time to be alive or what? :P
